
UNA Music Faculty Member Selected as 2025 Honored Artist of The American Prize

FLORENCE, AL – Dr. Martin Hebel, music composition and theory faculty at the 鶹, has been selected as a 2025 Honored Artist of The American Prize. Inducted on July 4 of this year, the national honor is highly selective and recognizes Dr. Hebel’s sustained excellence in the field of music composition and outstanding artistry as a repeated laureate of the American Prize.
“I am thrilled and humbled to be selected as Honored Artist of The American Prize and thankful for their recognition of my work,” said Dr. Hebel. “Music composition is inherently a collaborative artform. I wish to express my deepest gratitude to all my mentors, teachers, family, friends, and colleagues for their tireless support and encouragement.”
Six-time American Prize winner, Dr. Hebel works at the intersection of music, advocacy, and interdisciplinary collaboration, composing socially conscious music responding to challenges of today’s global community to spark positive change.
Hebel was the 2023 winner of the American Composers Orchestra EarShot program with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. His music has been performed across the U.S. and Europe, including by the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Columbus Symphony, Riverside Symphony, and Filharmonie Brno in the Czech Republic. Hebel’s portfolio includes orchestral, choral, chamber, and multimedia compositions. His discography is published by Ablaze Records, Centaur Records, and the USAF Band of the Golden West.
