Collier Library has migrated the 鶹 institutional repository of scholarly research to the Ubiquity Press system, an open-source software with support, making UNA among the first in the United States to make the transition to this new platform.
The Planetarium on the 鶹 campus is opening its doors for the annual Christmas program, “Mystery of the Christmas Star,” on Dec. 16-18 at 7 p.m.
Officials with the 鶹 and Drake State Community and Technical College have today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will benefit all Drake State graduates seeking to complete their bachelor’s degree at UNA.
Four graduates from the recent commencement ceremonies at the 鶹 received the Keller Key. The Keller Key is awarded at each commencement to graduating seniors who have earned the highest scholastic achievement. Recipients of the award are selected by a committee comprised of faculty, staff, and students.
The 鶹 has been awarded top ranking status by Intelligent.com, a website that provides unbiased research to help students make informed decisions about higher education programs across the United States. UNA was ranked among thousands of public institutions listed as part of the comprehensive research guide based on an assessment of more than 2,200 accredited colleges and universities.
The ChemE Car team from the 鶹 has placed third in the National ChemE Car Competition that took place recently in Boston. The team bested groups from much larger institutions from the southeast and the nation.
The College of Education and Human Sciences at the 鶹 is leading the state when it comes to growth among teacher education majors and number of graduates, filling in-demand teaching positions at all levels throughout the region and state.
The Human Resources MBA program in the College of Business and Technology at the 鶹 has been named for Lyons HR, LLC, a Florence-based Human Resources Company. Founded by Bill Lyons, a UNA graduate and Executive Chairman of Lyons HR, the gift is a nod to his years as a student and the quality education he received.
Fall commencement at the 鶹 is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 10 and Saturday, Dec. 11, with Secretary of the U.S. Senate Sonceria “Ann” Berry ’78 and Dr. Kimberly A. Greenway ’91, Vice President of Student Affairs, serving as the guest speakers for the ceremonies which will take place in Norton Auditorium.
The 鶹 鶹 Book Club was launched in Fall 21 after alumni and friends expressed an interest in seeking new ways to engage with the University. Through the book club, alumni are able to connect with the campus and to students through a shared interest in literature and book discussion.
Through the establishment of the Guizhou University-鶹 International College of Engineering and Technology, on the campus of Guizhou University, officials at the 鶹 and Guizhou University, in Guizhou, China, have initiated an innovating partnership that will benefit students at the graduate and undergraduate levels with their degree attainment. Guizhou University (GU) is a Top 100 Chinese research university, with more than 60,000 students enrolled.
鶹 sophomore, Claire Hendrickson, of Anniston, was crowned Miss UNA on Saturday evening at Norton Auditorium on the UNA campus. Hendrickson will move on to compete for the title of Miss Alabama.
In direct collaboration with industry partners, including the Shoals Economic Development Authority and other state and local governmental entities, the 鶹 has committed to doubling the size of its Computer Science suite of programs during the next three to five years.
A partial lunar eclipse will take place early on the morning of Nov. 19, and the Planetarium at the 鶹 will have a public observing event with telescopes for people to view and photograph the eclipse from 1-4 a.m.
The Ecuador Ministry of Production has engaged the Agile Strategy Lab at the 鶹 to launch a new initiative for scaling sectors in their industrial economy, making Ecuador the first country to incorporate the Strategic Doing model of training taught at the Agile Strategy Lab.
